There are many games these days that are uploaded for downloading illegally on various websites. Even games that aren’t released yet are already available for download on the World Wide Web. Though some might work just like the original, others are lagging and just virus-filled.
One good example of this is the latest Dr. Who game that is released by BBC. The game was released June 5 in UK only. For the Mac version, gamers had to wait for the 16th of June. Since there are many Dr. Who fans out there that cannot wait for the release of the game, many followers of Dr. Who tried to download the game prior to its release in their respective countries.
Some websites require turning off your antivirus so you would be able to download the game, but that is an obvious trap. Once you turn your antivirus off, all disgusting viruses would just swarm your computer just like that. Most virus makers use these popular games to lure victims, so be careful in trusting game downloading websites. Not all can be trusted in cyber space.
Before downloading, you should also check the file name. Some files have weird names that screams “virus” all over, so better check into it. Another thing you should double check is its file size. The one you are about to download should have the same file size as the original game. There is no way a game can have two different sizes. If the one you are planning to download has a huge difference, think twice and don’t click the download button.
These situations do not only apply for the Dr. Who game but for the rest of the gaming world. There are many flash games and expensive files that are shared online. Be careful in installing applications and programs on your computer. It is recommended to have your antivirus updated and ready for any threatening virus. Even video files and album tracks should be triple checked.
The internet is one big trap for your computer so make sure to have all your files protected by avoiding malicious websites. Malware infection is pretty bad so better watch it before downloading anything. Make sure to have a good antivirus and antispyware. However, the best solution for this is to simply wait for the release of the games you are aiming to play.
